Civil Process
The Office of the Sheriff, by statue must maintain a civil division.
The division is responsible for service of:
| -Summons and Complaints |
-Orders to Seize Property |
| -Small Claims |
-Order of Evictions (Tenant Removal) |
| -Notice of Hearings |
-Personal Protection Orders |
| -Child Support Petitions |
-Summary Proceedings |
| -Foreclosure Sales |
-Order to Show Causes |
Hours of Operation:
The Civil Process Division is open Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm.
Please come in no later than a half-hour before we close to allow us sufficient
time to assist you. We will extend hours under special circumstances.
We are closed on most legal holidays. If you have a question, you
may contact us at (231) 258-8686 extension 410, 403 or 415.
Fees for the service are set by statue based on the type of paper
that is served. Please contact the Civil Process Division at (231)
258-3355 to inquiry about approximate cost for service, which would include
a mileage fee.
This division is also responsible for the weekly foreclosure sales.
These sales are open to the public and are held every Thursday at 11:00
AM in the lobby of the County Courthouse.
