The Reserve Sheriff's Deputies of the Kalkaska County Office of the Sheriff are volunteer citizens dedicated to the service of Kalkaska County, giving freely of their time to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of their county. They provide a small, highly motivated and skilled resource to assist and supplement the Sheriff's Office in performing its duties in providing professional police services in promoting the health, safety and welfare of all.

The
Reserve unit's primary purpose is to act as a well-trained support unit
to the Office of the Sheriff during emergencies. Emergencies shall include
but not necessarily be limited to, riots, insurrection and civil commotion
arising out of natural and unnatural causes of all types and descriptions,
any and all felonies, misdemeanors and/or violations of the law which may
require support assistance of the Reserve Unit.
