Inmate Mail

Inmates receive regularly delivered mail Monday through Friday as delivered by the US Postal Service. All mail received at the jail is opened and inspected for contraband. Both incoming and outgoing mail is screened for court orders (bond, PPO's) which prohibits contact between individuals. In these instances, the mail will be turned over to the Prosecuting Attorney to consider charges violating the court order.

NOTE: We DO NOT accept mail from anyone incarcerated in any facility. Mail with stickers, drawing, lipstick, perfume, etc. will not be delivered to the inmate, but will be placed in their property.

To send mail to an inmate at this facility, address the envelope as follows:

(Inmate Name)
P.O. Box 1119
Kalkaska, MI 49646

ITEMS ALLOWED FOR INMATES:

  • Cash or money order for deposit to inmates account (exact change must be presented - we cannot make change).
  • Valid medical prescriptions are accepted for review and verification of medical personnel.

The Jail Commissary supplies all other non-essential items, such as candy, radios, cards, etc. Magazines may be supplied directly from the publisher. Books, new or used must be mailed directly from Amazon.com ONLY, not just through Amazon.com.

NOTE: Books and other literature may be screened for inappropriate content.
